Family School Partnership

There is broad consensus that Family School Partnerships are critical to children’s success in school. Since families have hopes for their children and are large contributors to their children’s education, these significant partnerships have a variety of benefits and lead to improved achievement and behavior and decreased dropout rates, among other things. Unfortunately, there are many potential barriers to collaborative relationships. Thus, in order to be sustained, family school partnerships must be backed by a vision for shared responsibility and joint development of student outcomes and achievement.  Schools are responsible to build capacity for these relationships and to invite and welcome families, while families support learning at home and engage with educators.
